[Mage] Daggerfall Unity [25] | Former Student Part II | Direnni Tower | Isle of Balfiera
Welcome back to The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, a role-playing game originally made by Bethesda for the MS Dos. For this playthrough, we are using the Unity remake of the game and a lot of mods to enhance the experience. The game involves navigating the sensitive political landscape of the Illiac Bay, a region of Tamriel on the fictional planet of Nirn comprising of the countries within the bay as well as the various fragmented powers surrounding it on both High Rock and Hammerfell. We have been sent to the place on a mission by our Emperor Uriel Septim VII to investigate two curious instances, the shade of King Lysandus that roams the streets of Daggerfall at night and a letter that he sent to the Queen of Daggerfall a few years ago that never reached her. Despite being a dungeon crawler at heart, Daggerfall places a lot of emphasis upon the player's individual exploration as choosing one among the various political factions in the region as they navigate the complex mess that is the Illiac Bay. In this playthrough, we will be playing as a Spellcaster and will shift our focus towards the Mages' Guild and the Order of Arkay.
Strangeblood had returned to Menevia to attend to more quests for the Mages Guild. However, as soon as he had arrived, a raven landed on his shoulder and stuffed a letter that it was carrying in its beak into his pocket.
Strangeblood made his way all the way to the Mages Guild only to be greeted with a promotion for his services. However, he suddenly remembered the letter that the raven had placed in his pocket.
He read it and it turned out to be a message from Baltham Greyman, the rebel who had his own aspirations separate from the Mages' Guild. He had invited Strangeblood to meet his messenger in The Rusty Djinn Lodge.
Strangeblood travelled to the place mentioned in the letter only to find an Iron Atronach with a note saying "Hit Me" pinned to its back. After a few repetitions of the suggested act, the Atronach told Strangeblood that his master had summoned him to Direnni Tower on the Isle of Balfiera, a place full of magical wonders for some adventuring.
When Strangeblood reached the place, he realised that this was, in fact, one of the places that had been calling for his attention for quite some time now and that he should use his feelings to lead him towards what it is that is so important within these walls.
With that in mind, Strangeblood entered the tower and made his way up the flight of steps in front of him to come face-to-face with a large chest. When Strangeblood took it, a Fire Daedra appeared before him. Now, Strangeblood used his Ice magic and put out the Daedroth's flame in a rather permanent fashion.
With this new chest in his backpack, he started exploring Direnni Tower and found Baltham Greyman already searching in the crypts. He told Strangeblood that he had actually been looking for that chest and that he has an enchanted Kite Shield to exchange for it.
With that out of the way, Strangeblood followed the voice in his heart through a series of corridors and secret walls and solved quite a few puzzles to reach the private chambers of a stunning, young woman. This woman seemed to be quite close to Lysandus and her spirit told him that she could perhaps tell him about the truth behind the once great man's shade. But upon talking to her, he was told that Strangeblood is too weak for the time being and that she needs someone who is stronger to suit her designs and purposes.
With one mystery down, Strangeblood returned to Menevia to complete some quests for the Order of Arkay.
