[Mage] Daggerfall Unity [28] | Getting Scammed | Order of Arkay
Welcome back to The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, a role-playing game originally made by Bethesda for the MS Dos. For this playthrough, we are using the Unity remake of the game and a lot of mods to enhance the experience. The game involves navigating the sensitive political landscape of the Illiac Bay, a region of Tamriel on the fictional planet of Nirn comprising of the countries within the bay as well as the various fragmented powers surrounding it on both High Rock and Hammerfell. We have been sent to the place on a mission by our Emperor Uriel Septim VII to investigate two curious instances, the shade of King Lysandus that roams the streets of Daggerfall at night and a letter that he sent to the Queen of Daggerfall a few years ago that never reached her. Despite being a dungeon crawler at heart, Daggerfall places a lot of emphasis upon the player's individual exploration as choosing one among the various political factions in the region as they navigate the complex mess that is the Illiac Bay. In this playthrough, we will be playing as a Spellcaster and will shift our focus towards the Mages' Guild and the Order of Arkay.
Shifting his focus towards the Order of Arkay in Tunwick, he sought to learn more by appeasing them. Little did he know that his lessons would be more about the nature of the world rather than the fabric of reality itself.
The first work that he received was to assist in the exorcism of a child in Tunwick itself. Strangeblood met the child's guardian who insisted that he get a Holy Dagger from a priest to get rid of the possession. When Strangeblood met the child, he introduced himself with the name of a Daedroth and that convinced Strangeblood to meet the priest and get the required Holy Dagger.
But when Strangeblood returned to the child, he took the dagger and the Daedroth never showed up. While it took a bit for Strangeblood to figure out what had just happened, he ultimately realised that he had been scammed. So he went back to the inn where he met the child's guardian and found a woman standing in his place who promised to tell him where the thief went.
When Strangeblood went to the Kington residence, he found the thief within and beat the dagger out of him. He then returned it to the priest for suitable compensation for his troubles.
Word of this scam must have travelled, however, for when Strangeblood asked for his next quest, he was told to exorcise another child. Giving this one the benefit of the doubt, it turned out to be the exact same thing and Strangeblood had to clean up once again.
Finally, he was tasked with destroying a great evil in the form of an unholy dagger in a nearby dungeon known as Morirdoth. Wiser to this scam by this point, Strangeblood knew that the dagger would turn into a Daedra Seducer as soon as he tried to destroy it. She offered him a magic short skirt, but he said no and killed her and teleported back to the Order of Arkay for his reward.
Here is how Strangeblood got scammed:
