Mageru Tsukeru Hahiiru - Ore * Dead Heat - Demos 1 & 2 - PlayStation 2 [Japan]
It's no secret that I'm very interested in Japan only racing games, and this is one of the most obscure and interesting titles, with a ridiculously long title to boot! Mageru Tsukeru Hahiiru - Ore * Dead Heat (breath) is a racing game with a difference, because with it comes the creative tools to make your own racing games! You can tweak and customise the cars, make your own tracks, and figure out the dialogue for a story line! It's a little RPG Maker for racing!
Alongside this racing game creator, there's also 15 examples/demos of games made by the developers and other sources like magazine producers! Some are simply quick races (like these two), whereas others have actual storylines to playthrough. I'm in a very curious mood over this whole thing, so I'm starting a quick series where I'm going to play through every single example in the game, and see what they're made of! This stuff literally isn't documented anywhere (and if it is, it's hard to find!) so, I feel like I should give it a shot and put some of this games content up. Maybe I'll even try to make something myself later on...
Example 1 puts us at the wheel of an Autozam AZ-1 (much to my delight!) and has us racing around an interesting windy course featuring a split path, I show both routes.
Example 2 is a little weirder, a Cappuccino vs a Skyline seems hardly fair. But the Skyline Estate-thingy we're racing doesn't like the hillclimb! He gives me a solid punt at the start though...
Sadly I cannot read Japanese, which isn't so much of a problem for the races itself, but when making choices/reading dialogue, I obviously have no idea what I'm choosing. If anyone would like to offer translation for things, please let me know!
Thanks to @TurboMeowser on Twitter for alerting me to his archive of the game!

[Music is left in to preserve the feel and nostalgia of the game, but this means it'll likely get copyright hit, apologies for that!]
