Yes! Atomic Frog is porting Doom 64 Reloaded to the official steam release of Doom 64 and here I am testing it with my Bandither shader (and my upscaled Morph Sound 64 sounds). And indeed, I got a custom shader running in the KEX engine!
Doom 64 Reloaded is an enhancement of the main campaign of Doom 64 by Atomic Frog. It includes extra geometric detail, graphics, level transitions, and cut scenes. Neigh Winny and I are also contributed on the music side, so that every level will have an unique soundtrack. This project includes some of the extra bonus maps from Doom 64 Absolution TC and brand new maps too for around 50 maps. It's moodier, dreadful, and disgusting... as it should be!
This is being tested with a custom shader I made, Bandither, which is hard to see in the YouTube compression algorithm (you can see some of it in full HD). This shader reduces the color depth to match that of mid-90's hardware like the Sega Saturn, Playstation 1, and early PC 3D graphics cards. It has an optional non-linear skew to it which works well for darker games like Doom 64 and Quake. It has various dithering modes seen on classic hardware like bayer, checkerboard, and magic square (and a lot more). Here are the settings I used...
Color Levels: 8 (3 bit)
Banding Curve: 5
First Dither: Bayer 8x8
Second Dither: Motion Noise
Dither Blend: 0.2
Dither Amount: 0.5
