Making a Miami Street Scene in Far Cry 5!
I had an absolute blast making this. I put the headphones on and played a bunch of my favourite 80's ballads and my god, what a time. I've been a way from far Cry 5 map editor for a while but doing this scene instantly reminded me just how much fun I have just throwing random assets together.
The Far Cry 5 map editor is really lacking in the modern buildings department so I originally planned to build all of the hotels manually with shapes but sometimes I find laziness is an advantage because I could not be bothered doing that so decided to take two of the very few modern apartment buildings in the editor and just throw them around to create the illusion of variety. An absolute rebellious joy!
You might notice a few strange approaches to world building in this one and here's why - the Far Cry 5 map editor has a limit of not only how many NPCs I can place in a level but also functional vehicles, and so the workaround I used here to try to create the ILLUSION of a busy Miami street from a distance, was to place simple sticks for people and wrecked cars for vehicles. I think it worked well and at first glance I don't think it's too obvious!
