In this video, I will be trying to recreate the popular explosive polymerization video. In this reaction, p-nitroaniline is heated over a flame with some sulfuric acid. Initially, not too much happens, but then suddenly, a large black snake appears. To do this, I will first need to make some p-nitroaniline, from acetanilide that I made in a previous video.
The foam that is formed is resistant to fire.
