MAME Tutorial - What Exactly Are ROMs, and How Do They Work? || MAME Emulator How To
28Greetings fellow Dazzlers and New Players alike! Niko Linni here giving you a MAME Tutorial (ish) on ROMs. Everyone's favorite thing that helps MAME run the games we all remember and love.
The idea here is to present a series of videos that help break down and explain the different aspects of MAME, which we hope will help you gain a better understanding of how things work. Yes, MAME is simply "just put this file here and it'll run" - but WHY does MAME need that file to run, how does it work and what does it represent? This is what we want to do with this series.
We'll first start off with ROMs, and then move onto other topics like BIOS and CHDs. We also plan to look at other aspects of MAME too, such as how you can add images, change settings, and so on.
The version we use in this video (And in a lot of our upcoming videos) is the build you can find here on Progetto-SNAPS: http://www.progettosnaps.net/mameui/
SNAPS' builds use the most up-to-date MAME core, so if you have any updated ROM sets, they should work.
