The best HLSL settings for this era of arcade games is located here: http://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/User:Cools#MAME.2FMESS.2FUME_HLSL_Settings

You can download the MAME source zip which will contain an HLSL folder with a bunch of .fx files in it such as bloom.fx. Copy these over to your MAME directory in the HLSL folder. G:\Emulation\MAME\hlsl\ for example. G:\Emulation\MAME\roms\ would be your roms dir.

Note: Watch fullscreen in at least 720p for clearer view of the differences.

This is just a quick demonstration of how the new scanlines in MAME .0142u4 can make a dramatic difference in the way a game looks. In Mortal Kombat II for instance, the animated background seems to be much more recognizable when HLSL is enabled. This new feature in Mame has the possibility to make original CRT arcade monitors obsolete due to its impressive functionality.

The latest HLSL files found here dated 5/28/11 were used: http://www.users.qwest.net/~amerrill/hlsl.zip

The following settings in mame.ini located here were used: http://pastebin.com/5D9pjagN
