The Isle of Man team's outstanding performance at the 2023 Island Games will serve as inspiration for the next generation of athletes, according to the Minister with responsibility for sport. The Manx athletes achieved remarkable success, securing a total of 63 medals, including 20 golds, and placing third overall. Their achievements exceeded expectations, with many personal bests recorded in various sports, particularly athletics and swimming. The minister praised the team's remarkable performances and emphasized the friendly atmosphere of the event. With a bid to host the 2029 Games already submitted, Manx athletes now have the opportunity to work towards that goal. The athletics team, described as a development squad, defied expectations and achieved numerous medals and personal bests. Looking ahead, there is great optimism about nurturing and supporting the emerging talent within the squad. Siblings Carla and Nathan Teece continued their family legacy by securing medals and expressed their pride in representing the island. The enthusiastic crowd turnout at the event in Guernsey added to the excitement, although it did make competing a bit nerve-wracking. The athletes and their families expressed their pride and joy in the team's success, with the overall experience being described as incredible and unforgettable. For more details, read the full article at: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-isle-of-man-66207383
