Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga Nerve Mode - Bonus 1: Fear Mongering
- Meant to be watched after Episode 12, and before Episode 13.
(Epilepsy Warning)
- I don't know how bad flashing lights have to be to trigger epilepsy. But what I do know is that this video does contain minor flashing lights. Watch at your own risk.
Nerve Mode is a brand new challenge I've come up with for the Mario & Luigi RPG series that is meant to make these games frustratingly difficult. I've decided to do text commentary for this series so as to not ruin it with my lack of ability to commentate audibly.
I've decided to do this challenge because... well, if I'm being honest... I'm just out of ideas...

RULES w/ Explanations
1. Only upgrade STACHE.
- Upon leveling up, every stat increases lightly. On top of that, you also get the opportunity to increase the stat slightly more with a bonus roulette. This rule states that you can only increase STACHE, which is a stat that controls how often you land lucky hits.
2. No drinks from Starbeans Cafe
- The drinks in the Starbeans Cafe can increase your stats slightly. As such, they are banned. On top of that, just making them rewards you with accessories. So you are NOT allowed to even enter the cafe.
3. Minimal gear
- Upon starting the game, Mario and Luigi are automatically equipped with the worst overalls in the game. You cannot unequip them, unfortunately. However, you are not allowed to change to any other pair.
4. Minimal badges
- At one point, a character forces Mario to equip the Castle Badge and it cannot be taken off. So, throughout the game, Mario will have the Castle Badge and Luigi will have no badge. No upgrades are allowed!
5. No items
- You are not allowed to use items at all, whether it is in battle or in the overworld. So just don't buy them and don't worry about hitting ? blocks.
6. No Advanced Bros. Attacks
- After successfully performing a Bros, Attack so many times, the player unlocks an advanced version of this attack that can do more damage and have different effects. You are not allowed to use these advanced attacks.
7. No Swing Bros. or Cyclone Bros.
- Swing Bros. and Cyclone Bros. are two completely optional Bros. Attacks that can be unlocked as the player upgrades their hammer. You are not allowed to unlock these attacks.
8. No Heart Blocks (JP)
- This rule is exclusive to the Japanese version of the game, which has heart blocks that fully restore the player's HP and BP.

Game Overs this video: 0
Total Game Over count: 8
-I'm doing this to provide a more accurate Game Over count due to only realizing after the fact that there's an inconsistency at one or multiple points in the series. This Game Over count will be more accurate than the ones in the videos.
