It's been exactly a month since Mario Kart 8 has been released and I decided it was time to make a shortcut video! Although cool shortcuts are pretty scarce in MK8, I'm very happy with how this video turned out. Since there are plenty of other shortcut videos for this game uploaded already, my motivation for making this video was to play the game at a high level and show the fastest way to do certain shortcuts/routes.

Some things to note:

1:03 It is definitely faster to skip the ramp while cutting the off-road and get a mini turbo instead.

6:15 Was happy to pull this one off with 2 shrooms instead of 3 thanks to fire hopping.

7:46 If you get enough air, you can drift off the next ramp and get super low air (mkw style :P )

8:16 Hitting the wall actually is the way you're supposed to do this shortcut, it's pretty strange. All the WR's do it this way as well.

I did not include many of the extremely minor off-road cuts since they cut barely anything at all, are boring to watch, and you're probably better using your mushroom on a straightaway and fire hopping (like I did at the end of Cloudtop Cruise)!

I also didn't include anything that Nintendo put in the game thinking it would be a shortcut but is slower such as the middle route in Thwomp Ruins or the glider ramp on GBA Mario Circuit (There are many more).

If you wonder why I'm not tricking off a ramp, it's most likely because it's not faster. Tricks are pretty weak in this game so there are plenty of times where tricking and getting the extra air isn't worth it.

I would be uploading more MK8 but I was on vacation for half of June and will be on vacation again for a few weeks starting tomorrow so I'm far behind most people with how much I've played the game. When I come back, I plan on focusing more on streams and online racing footage for videos. :)
