Mario Kart 8 Testing Room (1): Do "Acceleration Tiers" Exist?
Spoilers: Yes. Yes, they do.
Since it's perhaps a bit unclear in the video itself, apparently Mario Kart 8's acceleration stat gets floored every four ticks (1.0 on the stat bar), such that there are only five distinct values for acceleration.
As for my ridiculous notion of 8, 9, etc. "stat points", I use a 1-20 scale for stats for a couple reasons. Firstly, the Mario Kart games' in-game stats are only so trustworthy (both Mario Kart DS and Mario Kart Wii's can't anywhere near bottom out, and Mario Kart Wii's drift and Mario Kart DD's acceleration values are just plain wrong). Second, Mario Kart Wii seems to use a twenty-point scale for its stats too! Top Speed, Mini-Turbo, Off-Road, and Weight all have 20 distinct and equally spaced values in the game code! You can use this image for reference (thanks to Wayoshi for the hidden stats; they might be the subject of a later video):

Alternatively, every 1 stat point = 0.25 in-game bar points, and a total of 1 is the same on both scales (the max is then 20 = 5.75).
