Mario Kart Double Dash 12-16 PLAYER LAN session 4: All Cup Tour + 1 extra race at ESA Summer 2024
One of the many multiplayer playthroughs I've recorded in the latter half of July 2024.
It's been a tradition that at ESA Summer events, there's a couple of gaming sessions of Mario Kart Double Dash but with an actual setup to get 16 players involved.
8 Gamecube systems with 2 players per Gamecube which means 2 players sharing the same kart.
Usually it's an all cup tour with default lap count, other times it's Battle mode.
This video will show me and Ætienne play through an entire tour (16 tracks) and 1 extra after knowing we completed an entire set. It was taking place on a Wednesday and so the player count wasn't as high, this means that in SOME races, there were only 6 kart racers on the track instead of the usual 8.
This is the final upload of Mario Kart Double Dash LAN races.
Hopefully if there's another event that organises this, I'll try and invest some more Avermedia LGP capture cards to record these. And make 2 versions per session, single screen Greenalink and multi-screen layout.
Between July 19th to July 28th, I was at an event in Sweden known as European Speedrunner Assembly Summer 2024, raising money towards Alzheimerfonden (Swedish Alzhimer's Foundation). This was my first on-site event where I didn't participate in a full length run at all other than commentating an extra run and taking part in a Super Mario 64 Relay.
Fortunately, before the event, I purchased a second hand Avermedia Live Gamer Portable II Plus unit for like over 75% off the default price. This allowed me to record content WITHOUT a PC. The recorded output matches with Nintendo Gamecube which is a plus, the Gamecube had a Carby HDMI dongle making it super convenient.
Special thanks goes to Hiddenpower13 who brought with him x8 Gamecube consoles all with GCLoader installed, x8 OFFICIAL Gamecube broadband adapters (they were bought sometime before 2017 which was before the retro price hike craze on ebay like sites) and also 16 Wavebird controllers + 16 Wavebird recievers, he has put a lot of dedication making these Mario Kart Double Dash LAN sessions possible.
