Jamboree is the 18th entry in the Mario Party series, 13th on home consoles and 3rd on the Switch, which came out in 2017. The first was Super Mario Party in 2018 and Mario Party Superstars in 2021.

Jamboree includes 5 new boards and 2 returning for a total of 7. Western Land from 1999’s Mario Party 2 and Mario’s Rainbow Castle from 1998’s Mario Party. You start with 4 boards and have to earn the remaining 3 through a battle pass with 50 levels to unlock.

Jamboree features 112 mini games, 22 characters including 2 new ones. There is 1 single player campaign mode, 2 new online modes including a 20 player FFA Koopathalon and Bowser’s Kaboom Squad, where 8 players work together.

Top additions were the 3 new offline co-op modes. Flight School is a 2 player motion only mode that requires 2 Joy-Con’s each and has hints of Pilotwings. Toads Item Factory is a fun 2-4 player marble puzzle mode with 30 different levels. Finally, Rhythm Kitchen, a 4 player mode where you cook 5 star dishes to the beat.

Party mode has plenty of new features including 1 where you can change to pro rules, 1 to customize settings to finer details. 1 to decide if you want motion games included and 1 to include a Jamboree buddy, who shows up during the game to help you.

Nintendo could've saved this game for the Switch 2 in 2025 as it would have made for an easy day 1 purchase. Nonetheless, there were enough new ideas, quality mini games and fun new modes to make 2024’s Super Mario Party Jamboree a great way to spend time with friends and family. We give Mario Party Jamboree an 8, which is right in line with Metacritic at 82 and Opencritic and 81.
