For those who don't know, an online demo for Mario Tennis Aces on the Nintendo Switch came out about a week ago, which gave players the ability to play against each other (and CPUs) online. The more matches you won, the more points you'd receive, as well as moving up on the tournament chart. The overall points you got helped you unlock more characters. There were 9 in total, however I only got up to Toad (6). These points collected were also submitted to an online rankings page, I only found out not too long before the tournament shut that "The top four UK players...will each win a copy of the game for launch day!"

I must confess, I wasn't very invested in finding out anything about this game. Anything and everything I know I've heard from my friends. News of the Online Tournament Demo came from them as well, and not too long before it actually started either. I downloaded the Demo more or less just to try it out rather then to compete in the actual tournament. Sad to admit, it didn't actually peak my interest. I don't blame the game for this, I blame myself. It's concept and my motivation to play just didn't work. I also wasn't very good at playing. It took me much longer the normal to figure out what I was actually doing, and I just felt like I was embarrassing myself when I was playing online.

Of course! I am not saying that it's a bad game, the Demo was actually a lot more then I thought it would be. The graphics and animation was nice, and the music was really cool! I particularly liked the soundtrack for the tiebreaker round, contained a lot of interesting elements! I'd like to say the controllers were good too (despite my struggles with them). I let my sister try out the game and she seemed to pick them up quite quickly, I think she may have even won her first CPU match (which I didn't). The full game will respectably have A LOT more features to it then the demo does. More controls, specials, arenas, music and characters. But I don't think I'll be getting it, or at least not straight away.

The one thing I'd like to be fixed in the full game which this demo had is input lag. If anyone here played Smash 4 online on Wii U or 3DS, you'll know how painful input lag was to try and play with! You probably can't tell, but in half of these clips input lag was present (typically when the connection in the top right was at only 1 or 2 bars), the character would react more then 1 second behind what I inputed! If I am ever going to invest in the full game, I want to at least see a reduction on this.
