Tubular Worlds:
Is a side-scrolling shooter game that was released in 1994 for Commodore Amiga, Macintosh and DOS platforms. The game was developed by Creative Game Design and published by Dongleware Verlags GmbH. The player controls a fighter pilot who has to fly through four virtual cyber worlds and destroy the warlords that await at the end of each level. The game features various weapons, power-ups and enemies, as well as smooth graphics and sound effects. Tubular Worlds is considered a classic of the genre by many retro gamers
Shapeshifter:
Is a software-only solution for emulating 68k Macs on the Amiga, without requiring any hardware add-ons or modifications. It was developed by Christian Bauer and released as freeware in 1998. Shapeshifter allows the user to run Macintosh software concurrently with Amiga applications, and supports various features such as color display, sound, networking, and clipboard sharing.
To use Shapeshifter, the user needs a copy of a Macintosh 512K or 1MB ROM and the Macintosh system software. The ROM can be read from a real Mac by using a supplied program, and the system software can be bought from Apple. The user also needs at least a 68020 processor, 4MB of RAM, and OS 2.1 or higher on the Amiga. Shapeshifter can simulate Macintosh hard disks in Amiga files or partitions, and can access Amiga floppy drives, serial, parallel and SCSI ports from the Mac. Shapeshifter supports MacOS versions 7.1 to 8.1, and is compatible with most Macintosh software of that era.
PiMiga 4:
Is a project by Chris Edwards, a former Commodore Amiga technical services engineer, who aims to create the ultimate Amiga-like experience on Raspberry Pi 4 and 400. PiMiga 4 is a Linux-based operating system (Debian) that emulates the Amiga hardware and software, allowing users to run thousands of classic games and applications on their Pi devices.
PiMiga 4 is the latest version of the PiMiga series, which started with PiMiga 1.5 in 2020. PiMiga 4 has many improvements and features, such as:
- Bootable from a single USB device on Intel/AMD and Pi ARM series processors
- Pre-configured with WHDLoad, a tool that allows loading Amiga disk images directly from the hard drive
- Includes a large collection of games, demos, music, and utilities
- Supports HDMI output, wireless keyboard and mouse, and USB controllers
- Has a user-friendly interface with icons, menus, and wallpapers
PiMiga 4 is a free and open-source project that can be downloaded from Chris Edwards’ YouTube channel or his Patreon page. PiMiga 4 is a tribute to the legacy and nostalgia of the Amiga, and a way to enjoy its rich library of software on modern hardware. 🕹️
