Doom is a classic first-person shooter game that was released in 1993 by id Software. The game is set on Mars and its moons, where the player must fight against hordes of demons and zombies unleashed by a failed experiment. Doom is considered one of the pioneers of the genre, introducing features such as 3D graphics, networked multiplayer, and mod support. This ports runs well on very high end Amigas.
Quake II is a sequel to Quake, released in 1997 by id Software. The game is a sci-fi shooter that follows a human soldier who must infiltrate and destroy the Strogg, a hostile alien race that invaded Earth. Quake II features improved graphics, sound, and gameplay, as well as two official expansion packs and a new online mode. This ports runs well on very high end Amigas.
The Chaos Engine is a top-down run and gun game that was released in 1993 by The Bitmap Brothers. The game is set in a steampunk Victorian era, where the player must team up with another mercenary to stop the Chaos Engine, a machine that altered the reality and created monsters. The game features six different characters, four landscapes, and a co-op mode. A must have game on the AmigaCD32 or Amiga 500/600/1200.
PiMiga 4:
Is a project by Chris Edwards, a former Commodore Amiga technical services engineer, who aims to create the ultimate Amiga-like experience on Raspberry Pi 4 and 400. PiMiga 4 is a Linux-based operating system (Debian) that emulates the Amiga hardware and software, allowing users to run thousands of classic games and applications on their Pi devices.
PiMiga 4 is the latest version of the PiMiga series, which started with PiMiga 1.5 in 2020. PiMiga 4 has many improvements and features, such as:
- Bootable from a single USB device on Intel/AMD and Pi ARM series processors
- Pre-configured with WHDLoad, a tool that allows loading Amiga disk images directly from the hard drive
- Includes a large collection of games, demos, music, and utilities
- Supports HDMI output, wireless keyboard and mouse, and USB controllers
- Has a user-friendly interface with icons, menus, and wallpapers
PiMiga 4 is a free and open-source project that can be downloaded from Chris Edwards’ YouTube channel or his Patreon page. PiMiga 4 is a tribute to the legacy and nostalgia of the Amiga, and a way to enjoy its rich library of software on modern hardware. 🕹️
