Marvel’s Midnight Suns is the ultimate crossover event combining the rich story, character relationships, customization, and progression of an RPG with the tactical strategy and combat mechanics of a revolutionary new card-based tactics game. Set in the darker side of the Marvel Universe, you will forge unbreakable bonds with legendary Marvel Superheroes and dangerous supernatural warriors in the fight against the world’s greatest threat yet…the demonic forces of Lilith and the elder god Chthon.

You are the Hunter, the first fully customizable original hero in the Marvel Universe. Personalize your appearance, choose your reactions to situations, and build friendships with Marvel legends spanning The Avengers, X-Men, Runaways, and more. Decide who to take with you on missions, which missions to embark on, and a host of other options to make this a unique experience.

Spend time exploring what Superheroes do in their off hours. Explore The Abbey—your very own mystical secret base—to discover powerful hidden items and secrets to aid you in the conflict against Lilith and her minions. Befriend and get to really know some of your favorite Marvel heroes as you interact with them in ways beyond the comics or the films.

Players take the role of "The Hunter", the sole offspring of Lilith, as they lead a selection of heroes in various missions to defeat her. The Hunter, a customizable superhero created specifically for Midnight Suns by Firaxis Games in collaboration with Marvel, can be played as either male or female. Players can choose The Hunter's superpowers from over 30 different abilities.

Combat is turn-based like Firaxis Games' XCOM series, mixed with deckbuilding like that found in Slay the Spire. Each hero, including the Hunter, has their own customizable deck of eight cards. At the start of each mission, players are allowed to choose three heroes to take into battle, with their decks combined into one that is to be drawn from each round. The cards represent abilities that may affect either enemies or the player's own heroes. Heroes may also move or interact with objects in addition to making attacks.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns features a roster of 13 heroes, which is quite different to the original incarnation of the 1990s Midnight Suns comic arc, and the new customizable Hunter character. While the story is still about a band of supernatural fighters banding together to fight the forces of Lilith, Mother of Demons, Firaxis’ Midnight Suns game mixes classic members of the supernatural group, MCU stars, and the X-Men to create a unique team. You can also befriend all of them and increase their Midnight Suns Friendship Levels to gain extra benefits and unlocks.

You won’t have access to all these Midnight Suns characters right off the bat, of course, and they’ll be unlocked or recruited to the gang over the course of the story. In the tutorial missions, you’ll get to play as Doctor Strange, Iron Man, and Captain Marvel, but on your first missions as the Hunter, you’ll bring along Doctor Strange and Blade, for example. After that, you’ll unlock the rest of the core Midnight Suns members for missions, and other heroes, such as Spider-Man, will get recruited to the team through the story. The main list of in-game Marvel characters: Blade, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Dr. Strange, Ghost Rider, Hulk, Iron Man, Magik, Nico Minoru, Scarlet Witch, Spider-Man, The Hunter, Wolverine.

We also know that Morbius, Venom, Storm, and Deadpool will be added to Marvel’s Midnight Suns post-launch thanks to the premium Season Pass. This pass adds four content packs, each containing a new hero, missions, and more.
