Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered ► Review and first impressions of the spider The Glitz and Misery #2

When was the last time you saw a really good Spider-Man game? No, really. When? More than a decade ago, when you got your hands on an Ultimate Spider-Man dummy somewhere and it became all you could talk about for the next two weeks? Surprise, even its press at one time awarded it the unrevered title of "middling" and quickly forgot about it.
Some might even say that there hasn't been a good Spidey game since the first half of the noughties. To some extent, this is indeed true. For a decade and a half, the industry has tried time and again to repeat the success of the earliest hits from Neversoft and Treyarch. Without interesting experiments, like Shattered Dimensions, but none of them fired.
And the mystery was just opening all this time. Audiences don't go for innovative ideas and whistleblowers, they go for quality. And Marvel's Spider-Man is a prime example of that.
Back to the Roots.
I don't want to drag on and floridly summarize what a lot of people have already been guessing since the first trailers. Insomniac Games' brainchild is the best Spider-Man game ever made. At the same time, Marvel's Spider-Man is one of the most secondary, lacking in creative spark in recent years. And I say this without a shadow of disdain, not as, ahem, last time.
I know it's weird. Just listen.
Imagine a standard (not necessarily superhero) open-world action game. No, not that one. Even more standard, yes. Literally basic. I'm sure you won't hesitate to name five or so awesome features that have sucked on the genre like ticks.
Let's see... A beautiful and lavishly detailed, but "plastic" world? Scouring countless "forts" packed to the brim with enemies? Dozens of almost useless collectibles just for the sake of having? Combat that makes you think of some costumed crime-fighting game?
Once again, seeing Ambal is a pleasure. Charismatic, colorful... Too bad he has so little screen time.
It's a pleasure to see Ambal again. Charismatic, colorful... It's a pity he's got so little screen time.
All right, jokes aside. I could go on and on, but the point is that Insomniac Games' magnum opus has all of the above. Including the unforgettable "a la Ubisoft" towers, which even the French themselves have already made fun of. I wouldn't be remiss if I told you that you've played Marvel's Spider-Man many, many, many times, it's just that the main character used to be dressed up as a bat instead of a spider.
Mimicry
Spidey's new adventures are indeed tangibly based on Rocksteady's experiences with the Batman: Arkham series. Without fanaticism, but sometimes it comes to the ridiculous: a tiny mini-game with opening locks (needed to "open" the towers) completely copied from Arkham Asylum. Since it is the largest project of the developers to date, they decided not to fix what works, and without further ado adapted the time-tested findings to the setting and the character.
Tree skills not too spread out, but it is almost no useless skills. Something will come in handy!
The skill tree isn't too sprawling, but there are almost no useless skills in it. Something will come in handy!
The greatest fear among fans Spidey caused fighting. Fortunately, the "Batman" stealth so pounced only in the trailers. Situations from the category of "20 armed goons, one room" is, but do not overload the gameplay. Battles in Marvel's Spider-Man emphasize intuitive improvisation and Parker's dexterity rather than long planning.
By combining melee combat, webbing antics, and gadgets, you can learn to do brutally spectacular things in just a couple of hours (thanks to responsive controls). It's totally cool when the fights take place at different altitudes: say, at a construction site or in a cluster of skyscrapers. Just have time to dodge and dash from gangster to gangster, scattering "gifts" like spider drones, spider bombs and mini-motor jets that lift the target into the air.
Delighted +
The Shine and Poverty of Marvel's Spider-Man
Spider-Man is at it again!
Smooth, responsive controls;
brisk combat system;
excellent "parkour" with webbing;
decent scenario work.
The frustrating thing is.
Marvel's Spider-Man's glitter and misery
Killer Secondary;
beautiful but uninteresting Manhattan;
primitive boss battles;
few exciting side quests;
all the cool stuff, as usual, left to the sequels.
