Mary Luckey Thompson "Man I Love" - Delta Blues From Detroit 1998 - #nodemosleftbehind
I got this when I used to write reviews for Jam Rag, a small newsprint publication based out of Ferndale. The pay was the records/tapes/CDs I was given and they varied all across the spectrum in genre and quality. Mary is also featured on the Jam Rag 3 CD compilation my band was on, outside of that I'm not familiar with her, this is a fairly obscure upload.
The demo is like 90 minutes long, and most of it sounds very much like this song, my favorite. It's home taped with a xeroxed cover with a 313 beeper number hand written on the back. I'm not super into the blues although lots of music I am into is an ancestor of blues, in one or more proximal sense. I definitely do like this when I'm in a bluesy mood, Mary's definitely got heart and soul.
