2001: The Final Breath Soundtrack- Artist Unknown | Gabber/Dark Electronica/Hardcore/Dubstep
Shout out in the comments if you know the artists?
In the early 80s there was a movie called Faces Of Death which producers claimed to be documentary footage of people actually dying caught on camera. It wasn't real; in fact it was laughably fake and ridiculous, my first introduction to urban legends not living up to their hype. However, fast forward to 2000 after 20 years of everywhere you go there being security cameras, police dash cams, random people with camcorders , etc and suddenly it becomes easy to assemble a real death movie from public domain footage of crime scenes, accidents, etc. And that's what the producers of 2001: The Final Breath did.
I found the movie at the local indie video store and watched it, finding myself pretty grossed out with humanity as I did so, which i suppose was the point. But I also really liked the music that was usually substituted for the audio of the grainy clips. It was a very harsh, abrasive, sample-driven electronic sound that I had been waiting to hear a long time. Listening to it now in 2023 it's common, there are a million kids with laptops cranking out stuff like this with freeware music editing programs, but at the time this was a new thing.
Very little is known about the movie, it contains no credits, I couldn't even find an image of the cover for a thumbnail here. I didn't know if whoever made the film found this music or had someone compose it for them. I recently ripped the VHS copy I made of the movie and used audacity to separate the audio and remaster it. I got a copyright claim when I uploaded this for about 2 minutes from a band called Hate Tank (Thanks for allowing use on Youtube, Hate Tank!) but that could be because whoever made the song sampled them, although these producers aren't particularly scrupulous; perhaps they just stole it.
Anyway, here it is, Final Breath soundtrack, another unique upload.
