Masaesyli: A faction of little synergy
3Masaesyli is a nightmare faction because they're so hard to understand and do not have a high tier sword unit. Needless to say this faction may be frowned upon by many people who bought the DLC, but not myself. I believe that this faction hides a very dangerous strategy that, if used correctly, can decimate factions with ease.
Let's start with their sword/jav cav combination. As their core consists of 40-talent more Legionaries and 50-talent more Cohorts, they have a sturdy sword unit that will tackle other similarly priced units with some ease as long as they do not get flanked. However, their importance lies in the fact that unlike hoplites, they can get a fair amount of kills, too. Add the fact that javelin cav are supposed to make short work of foolish cavalry, armoured infantry or units with their backs facing you, you get amazing efficiency which is necessary given the fact that javelins come in short supply.
The only problem is creating these opportunities. This is no walk in the park; your cav can be countered very easily by skirmishers, other cavalry, or cheap spear infantry. Your Roman units can be countered by high charge units such as berserkers and flanking maneuvers.
