With four different weapon classes (not counting grenades) and over 40 different guns, Mass Effect 1 offers a wide variety of firepower for every playstyle. Every type of weapon has unique advantages and disadvantages that make it suitable for specific situations. Despite the huge arsenal to choose from, there is one particular set of weapons in Mass Effect 1 that stands out and is far and away better than everything else: The Spectre Master Gear.

Spectre Gear appears in two tiers in Mass Effect 1 and in this weapon guide we will focus on the absolute best weapons available, the Level 10 Spectre Master Gear. The terms Spectre Gear and Spectre Master Gear can be used synonymously as Spectre Master Gear is the only type of Spectre Gear available in Mass Effect 1 without using console commands. For all four weapon classes (Pistols, Shotguns, Assault Rifles and Sniper Rifles) Spectre Master Gear offers the absolute ultimate weapons with the best available stats for Damage, Overheating and Accuracy.

With Spectre Master Gear offering the best guns in Mass Effect 1, it is understandable that gaining access to these elite weapons is a bit of a challenge: Not only is it necessary to unlock the “Rich” achievement but Commander Shepard also needs to reach Level 50 before being able to purchase Spectre Master Gear. And even then Spectre Gear is not widely available: Only two merchants in the entire game, the C-Sec Requisition Officer and the Alliance Requisition Officer on the Normandy, sell the Spectre Master Gear – at ludicrous prices. While the HMWP Master Pistol is the cheapest gun in the Spectre Gear arsenal, it still comes with a hefty price tag of over 500.000 Credits. The HMWSR Master Sniper Rifle is not only the best sniper rifle in the game, it is also the most expensive weapon in Mass Effect 1, costing more than 1 Million Credits.
