MCOMS in Portal! The Complete Guide to Using MCOMS in the Battlefield 2042 Rules Editor
It's been a while coming, but finally I got round to doing a guide to MCOMS in the Battlefield 2042 Portal Rules Editor and to be honest, it's a big one! In this video I've covered as much as I am able to cram into one video.
This one is a bit of a change of form for me because I usually try to release the videos in 'parts' (because that's what the Youtube experts tell you you should do) so who knows, maybe this video will disappear into the Youtube algorithm pit never to be seen. But I figured I had it all ready to go so why not give it a go and see.
Yes, this is a really long video, and I dont expect people to work through it in one session (great for my views if you do of course) but I see it more as a maybe two session viewing...learn as you go.
If you want to buy me a cup of coffee I do currently have my kofi site up and running. I don't make money from ads, and I really do just enjoy doing this, but a fresh cup of coffee is the fuel that keeps me going :) - https://ko-fi.com/battlefielddad
Before I carry on, if you are reading this (and does anyone?), let me know in the comments if this long format is okay for this or whether you think I should go back to releasing in parts.
Right, in this video I have attempted to go through all of the blocks available, and what they do, and you will make a really small experiment mode that you can build off the back of if you want. There are a few little practical challenges for you to have a go at if you feel like you need a challenge, and by the end you will have made a mode of your own and hopefully have a good understanding of where to start with MCOMS if you want to use them yourself.
I should point out that we wont be creating anything groundbreaking as a mode here, we just want to learn what everything does and how it all works together.
Sadly I think we have seen all the blocks we will see added ever for MCOMS in this iteration of Portal and there are still some things that I would like to have seen added but never were. Maybe, if we see Portal developed further then we might get a chance to add these extra bits later.
Anyway, if you read this far, I didnt believe people did so why not put the word "CRACKERS" in the comments - then everyone will wonder why someone said crackers but we will know!
Right hope you enjoy the video, let me know what you think, and here is the link to the completed experiences for you to look at. Feel free to let me know what you think in the comments.
