Here's the next, revealing, Steve McQueen storyline from Sir John Whitmore - the man who spent hundreds of hours with the actor both in the UK and Hollywood. A brilliant racing driver in the 1960s, Sir John befriended Steve in 1961, when Steve began to race in England while filming "The War Lover". As well as riding motocross bikes on location, they also hung out on Sir John's farm (Orsett Hall) in Essex, where the gravel pit provided further fun.
