I've been hinting at it, but here it is... The most terrifying of all encounters yet in this game. What horror could it possibly be that could wreck my day so?
Venomoth. Freaking Venomoth. Of all things. Bloody hell. After this thing trashed me, my day kinda went downhill. Oh well, I survived. Wish I could say the same for my characters in the game; they all got wrecked.
Because of Venomoth's existence, if you managed to somehow get your hands on a Slumber Orb or a Warp Orb or a Petrify Orb something either from a job or buying it off of Kecleon, by all means bring it along. It might just save you. They're generally rare, but Petrify Orbs appear surprisingly often in Mt. Steel. A status seed might work, but in most cases if a Venomoth decides to appear on the opposite side of a room from you and you don't have an Orb to immediately stop it you're basically screwed.
So yeah, go grind in Mt. Steel and scour the place for Petrify Orbs. It's basically the only way to really ensure that Venomoth doesn't completely destroy you. I'd bring along more than one if possible, because this place can have a small chance of having Monster Houses beyond the second floor.
You could also hope to get lucky and not have to deal with Venomoth. They only show up on the last 6 floors, so you might get lucky... I certainly didn't, though I have had runs when they weren't an issue.
