Once you build the axe go and cut down some trees for the first house you will build. I would say about 6-7 trees is the sweet spot of trees you want to cut down. The first is to craft a bunch of tools and sell them. Then the second is to go berry picking which could be a tad of a hassle if no berry bushes are around you.
