0Once Street Fighter II reached the arcades in 1991, the 1vs1 fighting game exploded in popularity. While series like Street Fighter/Mortal Kombat/King of Fighters flourished there were hundreds of other fighting games that didn't - or did, before fading into obscurity.
In this video we take a look at large number of these obscure fighting games (168 to be precise). How many can you name?
Some are licensed games, based on anime/manga games. Some are spinoffs of other series. Some are terrible; some are pretty darned good. All are interesting in one way or another!
These cover a variety of platforms; the titles presented here cover a variety of different platforms. There are even entries here from the Famicom and Jaguar systems!
