Bass likes to pretend he's Zero because he doesn't want to be replaced by the actual Zero like Wily intends to do. I've actually played a tiny bit of Mega Man Zero, of which that train level is very early on, and it kinda kicked my ass! We also have a level with maniacal laughter...though I'm not laughing about the long-ass platform ride which is basically a one-shot deal. And you don't really know what you have to do about it until you're frantically running trying to catch up! Not the ideal design, really.
