Mega Man 2 Difficult speed run (Part 1/4)~37Min
BOOM here we go. By far the fan favorite of the Mega Man series, amazing music, useful weaponry, memorable stages, founder of the infamous Metal Blades, and features 2 difficulty settings. The American release features a "Normal" and "Difficult" mode. However in reality it is an "Easy"/"Normal". Americans just suck at games.
So this one is on difficult.
REAL speed runs use a better boss pattern, picking up items 3-2-1 as fast as possible to use in the other successive stages. I'm a nub and didn't even think to change my pattern when playing this, thus from the very start won't be able to rival some of the really good times. Plus those guys play on Easy anyway =P
Anyway, this part is really bad IMO, the narration over the playing is just boring and bland and not entertaining, I really wanted to redo it but figured I don't know how else I'd go about it. The next 3 parts are much more fun, so don't let it scare you off. Gotta finish what you start afterall.
In this piece, I take out Metal Man, Wood Man, and Air Man.
Metal Man: Stage goes okay. Some spots give me no choice but to wait, other times I'm a little sloppy on my jumps. Boss fight starts off great, but then I really start screwing it up. This time could be much better--especially if you don't start with Metal Man.
Wood Man: Pretty good level overall. I could use a little less Metal Blade spam, and make a few more jumps over big enemies like the roosters/bunnies but nothing too drastic. Don't get hit on the stupid fire dogs either =/. Boss fight went well, very little difference in time of fighting him due to his shield.
Air Man: Level went great. As I took like 50 tries before I got this run that I liked. Still could be a smidge better, unlucky on the boss pattern but 90% chance or so of not being able to kill him before he jumps to my side of the room.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This run is conducted on a Jnes emulator. While I DO own the original copies of the game, I have no way to record them. It is the original NES version of the game played with a PS2-shaped usb controller. A really really crappy controller. Sometimes causes me to fail.
Due to screen recording/emulating, sometimes the screen/audio blips. This becomes much more apparent in the Wily stages when more stuff is going on at once. Dunno what to do about it, sorry guys.
