Remember that time an alien robot came and you had to help him fight a bunch of Robot Masters possessed by his arch nemesis? Yeah, Mega Man 8's a little wacky, and I'm not just talking about the story. There was a pretty established formula up to this point but this one kept the basics the same and hucked everything else out the window. I'd class this as the most unique entry in the Classic series, but whether that's for better or worse is open to interpretation... MY interpretation. And, you know, anyone else who's played 8 and at least one other numbered title.
