Mega Man 8: Part 7: Sword Man Stage
5After beating the mid stage with Duo in it, the second wave of Dr. Wily's newest team of Robot Masters appear. Mega Man has to beat all 4 of them before he can get into the new Wily Tower.
Also, back at home, Roll will have new parts ready for you to have, but only if you have enough Bolts for them, first!

Sword Man is located deep inside a jungle ruins. In first section of his stage, you must pass 4 trials that are beaten with the help of the first 4 Robot Master's weapons that you should already have at this point.
- Bottom-Left: Use Clown Man's Thunder Claw to help you swing over those spiky gears.
- Top-Left: Use Tengu Man's Tornado Hold to reassemble the red machines so that they can open up the gates ahead of you.
- Bottom-Right: This place is dark, so use Grenade Man's Flash Bomb to shed some light into the situation. You'll also have to step on three buttons in the correct ordered near the end.
- Top-Right: There are idols that shoot jets of fire that instantly kill you. Use Frost Man's Ice Wave to freeze them all and pass by them without getting hurt.
After all of that's done, back in the main area, all 4 gates should be unlocked, and then you can move on to face the mid-boss: Gearna Eye.
You can only hurt it when it releases its gem, but that's also when it starts shooting fireballs at you. After enough damage, it calls a giant one-eyed hammer called "Kao ga Mehda" to smash the long platform you're on, forcing you to step on the smaller ones that this thing is targeting to begin with.
This is when the mid-boss truly becomes a jump 'n shoot fight, but if you keep hitting that gem, it'll go down and you can move on. Your reward from this is the Rush Bomber, where Rush Jet comes in and bombards the whole screen for a limited time.

In the next section, you will eventually have to use a raft to ride across lava, but it is mainly controlled by jumping on its buttons. These will lead you straight to Sword Man's room.
Sword Man is amply named. One of his hands is a large sword that Wily stole from a museum, but because it was so heavy, Wily made Sword Man into two parts that are held together with gravity.
Sword Man mainly attacks with fire, so his weakness is water, but I don't have a water weapon, yet, so just beating him with anything else is fine. Beating him will get you his weapon: Flame Sword.
Although he works for Wily, Sword Man made it clear that he has nothing against Mega Man. He's just following his orders. He even compliments him as he dies. How noble!
