And now comes the end.
X, Zero and Axl take the Jacob elevator in the hopes of catching up to Sigma. They face off against Vile first then take on the eight Mavericks again. And it’s here we learn that the rematches are just reploids using copies of their data. But then we face off against Sigma again and he’s determined to take us down. We beat him and even he’s a copy.
Finally we reach Sigma Palace on the Moon and we do have one final battle against Vile but he does the old if I go down, I take you with me cliché, forcing Axl to go it alone against Sigma. This only happens in Hard Mdoe. We face off against Sigma who looks like a wreck and then X shows up to help out. This is a really hard boss fight and you will need to make sure you have all your upgrades because he can drain your health quick.
After beating Sigma, Lumine shows up and it turns out she’s the one pulling the strings. Lumine challenges us and the fight is split into multiple phases. Phase 1 has her using weapons from all 8 Mavericks. Phase 2 turns her into some kind of angelic robot creature and she has a lot of nasty attacks. Being that this is hard mode as well, when her health drops below half, she unleashes Paradise Lost. You need to take her down fast, otherwise you have to do the entire fight again. Have Axl deliver the last shot so that when you start New Game+, you unlock a new armor for him.
Other than that, X8 is done. It ends with the three defeating Lumine but not before Axl suffers an injury. What happens then, we won’t know. It’s left ambiguous.
