Mega Man X3 (Saturn) Opening and Gameplay
I finally own it. X3 was the only game missing from my collection, and being the Saturn fan I am I felt I needed to track this port down... which was quite difficult.
I have to say that this port has it's pros and it has it's cons. Like most SNES to CD conversions, there are outrageous load times not present in the original cartridge release, there is also a border surrounding the left and right sides of the screen for some reason. I find the border a bit weird given that the Saturn should be more than capable of pulling off SNES visuals in full screen with ease. Maybe someone can explain why the Saturn version uses this border to me and everyone else? On the plus side there's nice FMV scenes introducing every maverick, a great CD soundtrack replacing the original, and you are also given the option to save your game to the Saturn's memory if you don't feel like writing down passwords.
UPDATE: The borders are used to fill the rest of the screen since the Saturn is incapable of drawing sprites at a resolution of 320x240.
