I decided to go back through the entire Donkey Kong Country series before moving onto Returns, and by the time I got around to DK64 I was so in the DK mood that I decided to 101% the title.

DK64 was an evolution of the series to a 3D world, and like many 2D to 3D platformers it may have had very little in common with it's sidescrolling roots as far as gameplay is concerned. To me it still felt like it belongs with the Country games. DK64 had numerous references to past DKC games, the Kremlings returning, the kind of "spooky" atmosphere that was present at times in DKC2, and minecart challenges to name a few similarities.

It's compared to the Banjo Kazooie series, and while that is an accurate comparison... I feel that DK64 still feels like a DKC game because of the overall tone.
