This song started out as part of an Earthbound ROM hack no one really remembers, was reused in Homestuck and may or may not have been in the running for RBN2.0 by DLCQuickplay (they were trying to get Homestuck, I don't remember if it was this song specifically or Toby Fox at all), made it as a secret boss theme whose fight is a grind to even get to, let alone how difficult it is to beat. Since then, it has been referenced, covered, memed, discussed, endless times. Play the first two D notes to anyone and they might recognise it. It's a fanhack song that made it to Smash Bros for real. It was a cornerstone of All Elite Wrestling for a bit. It was legit DLC for Gitadora and Dance Dance Revolution. It has its own Wikipedia page, which is actually not something a lot of legendary game songs can boast. It got played in front of the fothermucking Pope. Most importantly, it's a hit on TikTok.

Basically, unless it's Bohemian Rhapsody or Take On Me, your favorite song ever will never be as popular as this. Megalovania will outlive you, everyone you love, everyone you love loves, and who knows, it might even outlive Alexis Munroe and Solence!
