Albeit something more shallow in the first game the weapons system in Zero 1 basically set the game up for the rest of the entire game. Each weapon was unique in its own regard though the Triple Rod was the most annoying one to use. There is more you can do with it but it requires me to be good enough to pogo on top of enemies which is hard enough when you get to Zero 3.
