Meridian 59 is the first ever mmo created back in 1995, it was developed by Archetype Interactive and published by The 3DO Company. One of the original development team members (John Hanke) has since helped co-develop Google Earth and Pokemon Go.
I remember playing this game back in 1995, it was a nightmare to play with dial-up internet, luckily these days you don't have to worry about issues like that. The one thing that stands out the most playing this again after all these years is the music, just wow! the OST is still fantastic.
The original server was shut down many years ago but the game just keeps bouncing back due to having a community of mmo players that love this game as much as I did back in 1996, so it's still good to see the game running after all these years in all its originality.
