Would you believe it's 30 years since "Metal Gear" was originally released for the MSX? It's true, and you know what that means? Time to go check out Solid Snake's first operation… and see just how such an epic franchise was born.

This review also covers out the C64 conversion from 1990 (because let's face it, when else would I ever get around to justifying it).

MSX gameplay footage recorded from a Philips VG-8235/20 (via RGB), with C64 footage recorded from a C64C (via S-Video). These were both fed through an XRGB Mini - so watch it at 1080p50 for the absolute best quality!
