Metal Gear Solid 4 was not a mistake. It was the best thing that possibly could've happened to series, short of it simply ending. As fans of Metal Gear Solid, wouldn't you rather it die a dignified death? Well, that's what MGS4 was trying to give it. Before Kojima inevitably left the series, and games like Metal Gear Survive started being made, Metal Gear Solid 4 was an attempt to close the book on this utterly epic series, and pull the plug before it became completely bastardized. While, ultimately, it failed in it's mission, that mission was to stop the series from becoming what it is now: A husk of what it once was, a Kojima-less era of Metal Gear. This game was an attempt to stop this deeply personal and important series from becoming less personal and less important, and I can't think of a more noble, and courageous goal than that.

The music in this video is from the Metal Gear Solid 4 OST by Harry Gregson-Williams, Jackie Presti, and Nobuko Toda x Shuichi Kobori x Kazuma Jinnouchi
