Metro: Last Light (Non-Redux) [Finale: Redemption]
0Yeah so, in the end the game looks largely the same I guess, Redux might have better overall texture quality (barely noticeable tbh) and some slight gameplay tweaks (again, barely noticeable), but I dunno, there's something about this one's lighting and general handling of effects that just looks better, at least to me.
I did end up cross-referencing gameplay from this to gameplay in Redux, and the lights in Redux almost look flat, especially on the surface, and they massively toned down the saturation on basically all of the colored lights. Combo this with the added bloom and lens flares, and you get a game with lighting that looks washed out and is really hard to look at due to the added effects.
On the opposite end of this, I will say that various spots in the original are extremely dark, which makes it really hard to see, and is kind of a problem for stealth until the player gets night vision to counter it, which is effectively halfway, maybe 2/3 of the way through the game at that point.
