the fated return of suitless. thanks to a new trick initially discovered by japanese runners, and elucidated by arkandy, we now have a way to effectively axis skew wherever we want, which allows us to both skip quiet robe AND spark to the ferenia CU (without needing to melee skew off the wave emmi).
the trick ("bomuhey skew") involves getting samus into a state where the game fails to correct her facing angle when spin jumping after a turnaround. this causes a unique skewed state which is not even reset by subsequent spin jumps. the bomuhey state itself also persists between checkpoint reloads, and even after switching to another file. the state is reset upon turning around midair out of a neutral (nonspinning) fall.
to trigger the bomuhey state: 1) initiate an aim-down clip, 2) once clipped, free-aim anywhere behind samus, 3) release free-aim and aim forward. there still seem to be some minor nuances to the setup that i don't really understand, but that is the gist. in addition to allowing us to charge a shinespark in close quarters, this skewed state also allows us to clip through certain doors and/or walls.
probably won't grind this too much, but i'll see about going for sub-1 at the very least.
