The second type of X-Core is much more difficult, and they are exclusive to beam upgrades. Apparently, the X-Core absorbed a type of beam weapon which caused it's transformation. They are much more difficult than the other X-Cores, who don't have a protective shielding.

Now that Sector 1 is completely stabilized, it's time to head for Sector 2.
