The game: Metroid HD is a ROM modification pack that upgrades the graphics and sound of the original Metroid game for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Along with visual and audio updates, many environmental details have been subtly remixed making the game feel like much more than a simple reskin. Also, there's a noticeable reduction in lag compared to the original game. Gameplay footage was recorded using the Mesen 2 emulator.

The speedrun: I decided to go with a standard "All Bosses" speedrun to showcase the game. The route is Ridley-1st w/ Ice Beam, and three E-tanks are acquired along the way. This run includes multiple door wrap glitches and the UP+A feature on controller 2 is used to expedite the lair escapes after each mini boss.

Overall, this is a solid run. But as with any new speedrun project, I still have much to improve. But I think this is a fine benchmark PB to start with. I've really enjoyed playing Metroid HD and will likely post more videos of this game in the future. Cheers!
