Here it is, the finale to this awful, awful story. The whole "Deleter" thing gets deleted, Adam rides off into the sunset, and the metroids are eradicated again, for the third time. Twists and turns abound, resulting in a tangled mess that I will never touch again.

I didn't really talk about this in the video, but I want you to imagine being a Metroid fan before this game came out. A new Metroid game, with voice acting and all kinds of characters and everything! A chance to learn about who Samus is as a person, not just her battle history!

And then you get... this hot mess, this raging dumpster fire.

And after that... nothing. You wait to hear about a new game, but there's nothing. "Well, Metroid's not an annual title, so they won't have anything just yet," you tell yourself. So you wait until the next year. And you wait. And you wait.

And you wait.

It took 5 years until Nintendo announced a new Metroid game: a spin-off that's less about exploring planets and more about shooting monsters with friends--and without Samus. It took 2 more years after that until Nintendo announced a new game that actually stars Samus.

Obviously, I'm not an insider at Nintendo. I don't know what their internal thinking was during all that time. As a fan, though? It's hard to imagine literally anything else being responsible for the extended absence of Metroid.

At least with Metroid Prime 4 on the horizon, the future is looking brighter.
