The Nova Beam is within our grasp, but we have to fight for it first. This fight can be tough, considering it could go on forever until the mining unit is destroyed. To damage the unit, a Pirate must be sent flying into its core. This will cause it to expose its weak points, which can instantly be destroyed by a charged shot. When the laser is firing, kill off all the Pirates except for one. Then once the unit begins drawing in any possible Phazon, shoot the Pirate until it goes inside. The Pirate's armor must be completely off before it can be sent flying, so you must keep that in mind. Don't think you are safe from the dangers the Pirates face, as you too can be sucked into that mining unit. It instantly kills you if you are drawn in, but I think you only suffer extreme damage if you go into Morph Ball mode. Either way, you must be careful.
