*Merging with the machine, and, more importantly, the planet, Dark Samus takes refuge in the stolen Aurora Unit. AU313 attacks by unleashing a deadly purple beam that has quite the kickback and raises your Phazon level at a high rate. It implants itself in its hole and unleashes a set of four cannons to shoot at you. It uses Phazon tentacles to shoot blasts Phazon. Finally, it unleashes Dark Echoes, which either lob globs of Phazon or turn into Morph Balls that boost around the arena.
Those Phazon tentacles must be destroyed if you want to hit the exposed vents in the front. Sometimes, a sensor pops out quickly for surveillance; if you can hit that, the AU is stunned, exposing the vents. When it can't take anymore, it collapses to the ground. Latch on to the hatch and pull it open, revealing the core to pump full of Phazon.
When it takes enough damage, Aurora Unit 313 rips free from its spine. Now, it attacks by unleashing a barrage of beams from antennas before crashing to the ground and spinning like a top. It also launches a bomb from underneath the "brain", which can be stopped and stuns it. Finally, it uses what is affectionally called a "Brain Blast," reminiscent of Mother Brain's attack. The weak point is located where the spine was severed, so aim true and destroy the machine.
As it collapses, the AU recedes back into Dark Samus. Screaming in agony, the mutated Metroid explodes into particles of Phazon, but it seems like this is truly the end. Samus also screams in agony before the Phazon in her is purged. Suddenly, the planet begins to destabilize...
