We're back! This section took us a little longer than we had planned and it wasn't even a super long video. But as the title implies, this video picks up after leaving the Ridley area and finishes with the aftermath of the Mother Brain boss fight.

Let's a go!

CHAPTER 5 - TOURIAN

So as we return to Norfair, the wall the right collapses much like after we beat Kraid and returend to Brinstar earlier. Go right into the new path and we'll eventually find the SCREW ATTACK upgrade.

Now, when you do a sommersault, you'll automatically do the 'Screw Attack' move. You can use this to destroy enemies you weren't able to before, or to destroy them faster. You can also break through blocks that have the Screw Attack logo.

After collecting that, we'll head for any Green Hatches in Norfair. There are at least two Super Missile Tanks here and you may need all you can find for the upcoming fight against Mother Brain. When you've collected everything in Norfair, make you way back to Brinstar.

We''re heading for that door we saw in cut scenes after the Kraid and Ridley fights. Both sides of the door are now open, granting us access to a new area. It's hear that you'll find the elevator to Tourian. Head down and enjoy the cut scene warning us there will be Metroids in the area!

So this whole area just really suck. You'll start off fighting just one Metroid. Then two. Then, I think four or so. But there's this one room where you bomb the floor, revealing a much larger chamber beneath you. This room is just FULL OF METROIDS!

You're best off trying to lure one up to the top platforms on the left or right. Kill it, then repeat a couple times before venturing down. There are actually two floors below you, so take note. There should be only one or two on the bottom level though.

There's a save room right beyond that. The room after that just has a long corridor with those energy rings that come at you. This is a good room to take a break and recharge your energy and ammo. The room beyond this is the beginning of the Mother Brain fight.

When you enter the room, you'll have to go a ways before actually reaching Mother Brain. You'll need to destroy a couple of barriers that regenerate if you don't destroy them. These are called 'Zebetites'. It might be a little cheap, but you can actually leave the room after destroying them to go re-fuel.

This is what I choose to do since there's no punishment for doing so. Despite this handicap, it is still quite a tough boss...

BOSS BATTLE - Mother Brain

When you finally reach Mother Brain, you'll first have to hammer the glass case protecting her with either Missiles or Super Missiles. In the frenzy of the fight, we neglected to actually use any Super Missiles, but still ended up ok in the end.

Once the glass case is broken, Mother Brain will only be vulnerable when her large eye is open. It will flash blue before it unleashes an energy blast. It appears that Mother Brain's eye will only open and remain open if Samus is not in the pit in the moments immediately after it unleashes the energy blast.

I'm not sure it this means you need to be on the ledge or not, but just keep that in mind. Hammer the eye with everything you got and she will eventually die.

Like all Metroid games, when Mother Brain dies it activates a self-destruct sequence. You now have two minutes to race back to your ship. As an added challenge, most of the ledges and platform here will crumble and then collapse.

If you watched this part, you'll notice that we really struggle here for a couple of second, at least. Yet we still manage to make it out of Tourian and back to our ship. We're then treated to a cut scene where Samus' ship is gunned down by the Space Pirates and she loses most of her abilities.

She's down to Zero-Suit Samus...
