This isn't gen 1, but psychics are still mega OP and Mewtwo is here to prove that he's still got it, Indeedee. Still capable of sweeping whole teams with just one or two moves, this is why the dark and steel types were invented, otherwise EVERY battle would go something like this:

Lead Indeedee, get psychic terrain up. Destroy everything. Indeedee goes down, Mewtwo comes in (psychic terrain is still up) Mewtwo dumpsters anything Indeedee couldn't ko, and that's the whole game. In theory that's how it should go, but when you're up against skilled opponents, this will almost never work. Zoroark, however can trick your opponents by disguising itself as it kills off a would-be threat, opening the door for Mewtwo to sweep. Ribombee, though very fragile, can provide speed control to slow down fast opponents like say Pheromosa and allow Mewtwo to ko them, Indeedee.
