Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 | Learn ATC | FAA VFR Procedures | Traffic Pattern & Airspace🛩️
Tonight we kick off our FAA Conversion journey with a deep dive into VFR operations in U.S. airspace, using the Boston Virtual ARTCC WINGS program as our practical foundation.
We’ll explore the FAA airspace system, look at TFRs, NOTAMs, ATIS, and cover FAA radio procedures for both towered and non-towered airports.
Our focus will be on the VFR traffic pattern — understanding how to fly it correctly, how to communicate like a pro, and how to operate safely under FAA rules.
Practical Flight:
A circuit flight at Nantucket Memorial (KACK), following WINGS VFR 1 – The Traffic Pattern
We’ll look at Navigraph for charts, SkyVector for airspace, and practice using CTAF or live ATC with VATSIM/SayIntentions depending on traffic.
This stream sets the stage for the full FAA Conversion Course, The updated Ground School Manual is now available
Whether you're new to VATSIM or brushing up for U.S. airspace — this is where it starts. See you in the pattern!🛩 ️
